Stitch Your Story
In a digital world, it’s increasingly important to know how to understand how to collect, organize, visualize, and interpret data. By merging the handcraft of needlepoint with the concepts of data visualization, we can build data literacy and critical thinking skills, while also building a unique and personalized mindfulness practice for the classroom, boardroom, and stitching circles alike!
About Bonnie
Bonnie Natko was surrounded by fiber arts and textiles from a young age, but oddly didn’t start her stitching journey until three years ago, when everything just clicked. Since then, she has developed an ever-evolving stitching practice that includes embroidery, bargello, needlepoint, and weaving. In her work, Bonnie likes to infuse high-tech concepts with hand-crafted work, and is a true proponent of experiential learning. In 2022, she created Data Stitching, which is a way to learn data visualization through bargello needlepoint, and as a mindfulness practice to help her with her daily journaling practice. She’s currently teaching workshops to learners of all ages and skill levels and will be participating in the Coney Island Maker Faire in October 2024.
